Special thanks to John Myer for sending me photos of these cool posters from Tippy Ballroom! It must have been a blast to see some of those back at Lake Tippecanoe.

US MALE and Cambridge Five were Indiana bands. Very impressive that someone saved these.

Cool posters! I remember playing Tippy well, it was one of the coolest places we played back then. We also opened for several other bands at Tippy. Thanks for the great memories!

Sorry, only three of us left! i do, however, have a granson that is one hell of a drummer and should soon be playing all of the “hot spots” dave patterson, drums, u.s. male

the u.s. male always enjoyed playing at tippy because it was close to home and had a musical history that went back for decades. we also opened for a band called “the new yardbirds”. a few months later the same four guys changed their name to led zeppelin and recorded the music that they had played the previous summer on their tour as the new yardbirds. we also worked shows at tippy with the new colony six and the music explosion and around the mid-west with the flock, the outsiders, the m.c. five, and others. an interesting side note: strawberry alarm clock lead guitarist ed king later was a founding member of lynyrd skynyrd.

    • We will be playing the Tippy Reunion show September 4th. After 40 years of being apart we have the original line up back together and are ready to live music and a 60′s party to Tippy. As a matter of fact our last show at Tippy was 42 years ago on LAbor Day Weekend.

  6. Nancy Miller says:

So does mean that old farts in their 60′s could come and dance to old music or what exactly is this reunion? Don’t want to show up and be the only oldster there!

  7. You definitely won’t be the only person there in their 60s! The Sixth Generation will play hits from the 1960s as well as original songs about the 1960s. Our audiences typically include mostly baby boomers, but we usually have people from pre-teens to octogenarians because everyone loves 60s music so much! It will be a great time for all!
